Hello, I am McClain Blackmon and I was very happy to be carrying on the J. Valov Breeding Project. This year I am going to be a Sophomore at Monache FFA and I actually have my own breeding ewe that I have raised for the past 4 years. It was an honor to be given this opportunity to help get a new member started with a project. Valley Ag Boosters have been great supporters to kids with different animal projects. I am very grateful to work with the Valley Ag Boosters and help make a difference for an incoming member and encouraging future showman.
I can’t wait until I will be able to give the lamb offsprings to a youth beginning their 4-H or FFA experience at the fair. I hope to inspire future generations to either show or start their own breeding projects. I got into breeding by wanting to help future showmen have a great experience and do well in the show ring.
Jorge Martin
Hello. I am Jorge Martin and I'm one of the many kids that have been helped by Valley Ag Boosters. They gave me the opportunity to carry on the J. Valov Breeding Project. I had always been involved in ag, but never actually knew what showing an animal was until Jimi Valov gave me the opportunity to do that when he purchased my first lamb. In this breeding project I have done the same.
I was able to give a lamb to the new members of Waukena 4-H. The whole point of the breeding project was to give back to the community and now I was able to do that. I hope to inspire others to do the same when their time comes. Thanks to all of those who were involved!
Delaney Shaw
My name is Delaney Shaw. Through my 4-H and FFA career, I watched as Jimi supported the members of Waukena 4-H Club with initial lambs, and then support again at the county sale. This inspired me and my friends Joseph and Olivia Machado, to start a breeding project and sell the animals at a cost just above breakeven to ensure all members of the comminuty could particpate in 4-H. When Jimi heard this, he could not resist buying a ewe at the Tulare County Fair sale and donating it to us. This in turn motivated us to support new members with a free lamb to get them on their way! We wanted to continue this tradition, so we chose Jorge Martin as the next steward of the Waukena 4-H Flock. For a price well below market price and a hand shake promise to support the communty members first, Jorge drove out with 19 ewes, 2 rams, and 6 lambs!
